Autumn 1

The Year 2 children had an afternoon with Nicola and Bridget. They looked at a range of leaves and learnt which leaf belonged to which tree. The children also got to open up conker shells

In Art, we went outside to take different texture rubbings to create nature inspired artwork in the style of Max Ernst and botanical artist Maud Purdy. We used our rubbings and different textures to create a flower.

In Science this week, we were very lucky as Gary from Carymoor came to visit us. He gave us a talk on recycling materials and explained the different recycling bins. Gary discussed which foods are allowed in compost bins and we had fun playing a game with Wigglebert the worm.

We had fun today at the Ansford Multi-Sports Festival. We practiced our catching and throwing skills, our shooting technique, team work skills and our communication skills.

In Art, we experimented with charcoal to draw different marks. We then used oil pastels to experiment with different marks to create a range of textures.

In Forest School, we went on a bug hunt to see what bugs we could find in Cherry garden. We then used leaves to create some of the bugs we saw.

In Music, the Year 2 children have been learning to sing Hands, Feet and Heart and the Year 3 children been singing Let Your Spirit Fly. This week we added some notes on the glockenspiel.

We had a great time at Hauser and Wirth looking at the different sculptures that Phyllida Barlow created. We enjoyed using different materials to create our own sculptures.

In Maths, the Year 2 children used resources to make numbers up to 100 and the Year 3 children used base 10 to represent number up to 1,000.
