Wednesday 18 th February Arrival London Heathrow! A successful trip!!
Tuesday 17 th February
8 am and we are waiting for our lift to the airport- African time!
We drive to Ndola which should take 2 hours as the roads are very rugged and full of huge potholes and there could be floods from the rains in the night.
We then have a long flight stopping for 50 minutes in Zimbabwe for drop offs and then on to Abbis in Ethiopia for a 5 hour wait. We then fly onto London Heathrow arriving 6.30 am.
I then drive us all back to Bruton to drop off Victoria and Mandy so we should all be home by 10 ish Wednesday morning.

Sunday, the 15th of February.
Woke to the sound of singing in church.
Today we go to the boating lake with the teachers of Louansobe School.
First of all this morning, I helped Pinky, aged 12, to make her model for geography.
We used recycle materials to make a model of the atmosphere. Take a look!
Water use in the house
Wiki collects water from the local bore hole in a wheelbarrow. He brings it to the house for us to use.

Tuesday 10 th February - it really is the rainy season!!
Is it raining more in Somerset or in Zambia?
Mufilira is located in the Copper belt area. What do you notice about the copper mine?
There was sulphur dioxide being given off into the air today. It was an advisable to stay out of the rain as it can drop as acid rain and can be tingly on the skin. The people of Mufilira learn to live with this but the copper mine is supposed to be improving the pollution in the local area.
Important visit to District education office to celebrate the link.

Monday 9th February Out and about around school. What do you notice about the weather today? Lots of children did not get to school due to heavy rains this morning. What jobs are the children helping with?

Zambia blog Friday 6 th February
I am travelling with Miss Shattock and Mrs Davis from Bruton School.
We have arrived at the airport. We have checked in our suitcases and we are due to fly this evening. We are flying to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. We will arrive in the morning. We then change flights and get a flight to Ndola I Zambia. Then there is a two hour car to Mufilira town.

We fly st 8.15 tonight and arrive at 3.30 pm in Ndola Zambian time. Zambia is 2 hours ahead of us in Uk. How long is the journey?

Mrs Cosser is visiting Louansobe Primary School, Mufilira, N Zambia, our new link school. She is taking out the children's work, letters, photos of school and gifts for the school ( art, maths, phonics equipment and some soft toy puppets, as well as Ditcheat Dave Teddy bear!)

Teachers from Mufilira Primary School, Zambia visited Ditcheat Primary School and spoke to the children about life in Zambia and at their school. The children made our visitors very welcome and joined in some African dancing and singing too. We exchanged letters with children from Zambia.
