Holly Class (Year 4) Mrs Cooper

Autumn Term Topic Planners

Hello and welcome to Holly Class!

                                 Teacher: Mrs Cooper

                                 Ms Dando and Mrs Nixon

We are so enthusiastic about our learning and have been developing our skills as independent learners. We’re not afraid to make mistakes as this is a part of learning but we do like to try our very best, present our work beautifully and show you what we can do.

English

If you would like to support your child further with their English at home, please continue to hear your child read regularly.  Taking the time to talk about the book and ask questions helps to ensure that your child understands what they read. A vital skill!

Regular spelling challenges at home during the week, alongside the use of spelling Shed, to help develop their spellings can make a huge difference. There is an assignment set on this platform, matching their main spelling list each week. In addition to this the children will each be given 5 purple precision spellings. These words are specific to each child and focus on common exception words, or specific words identified from independent writing tasks.

Maths:

We have a lot to look forward to in Maths this term including:

  • Place Value
  • Addition and Subtraction
  • Learning our times tables

We have our club tables up and running and the children are working super hard already to move on up in the club. Please do help them at home to practise their set each week.

Extra to this they can be supported with the use of TT Rockstars or Numbot as appropriate and Maths Shed. The children have passwords in their reading records to help ensure that they can log on at home as well as school.

PE:

Currently on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon . Please make sure NAMED kits and trainers are in school.

Homework:

Please hear your child read a little each day and record in their reading record book. On a Wednesday, the children will be given spellings and a set of times tables from their club to learn. They will need homework books in school on a Tuesday please.

Times tables and spellings are usually checked on a Tuesday.
